Guitarist Chris Allard signed to Sunlightsquare Records in 2013, and Jupiter Island was the result. His long-standing quintet plays on most of it: Brandon Allen on tenor saxophone, Ross Stanley on piano and keyboards, Oli Hayhurst on double bass and Nick Smalley on drums. Three tunes are in trio format, with Geoff Gascoyne on bass and Enzo Zirilli on drums. Derek Nash recorded the quintet at Clown's Pocket Studios and Jules Jackson recorded the trio at Whippet Studios, with Allard producing and arranging. The album was launched with a concert at the Forge in Camden in July 2013.
