Salsa and reggaeton join the Sunlightsquare sound, launched at the Jazz Café.

The second Sunlightsquare album widened the palette. Reggaeton and salsa came in, with room for funk and trip hop next to the jazz soloing of the first record. Joy Malcolm, Tasita D'Mour and Z-Star sing. Giovanni Imparato plays percussion, Nikolaj Bjerre and Cristiano Micalizzi share the drums, and Quentin Collins and saxophonist Aaron Liddard bring the horns. Z-Star fronts the Stevie Wonder cover Pastime Paradise, which Gilles Peterson played on BBC Radio 1 in November 2008. Seven of its songs were on East London Showdown, a promo album the label offered for licensing in 2007. The album launched with a sold-out show at the Jazz Café and closes with Amuyada remixes by Mustafa and LouiSubsole.
