Mongo Santamaria's O Mi Shango, from batá drums to the club.
The second single from Britannia Shing-A-Ling covers Mongo Santamaria's O Mi Shango. It opens on Afro-Cuban batá drumming in praise of Shango, then locks into a dance beat, with the horns playing the original vocal melody and René Alvarez singing lead. The June 2011 package came as a 7-inch, SUN7004, and an eight-track digital single with mixes by Fuzion (Franke Estevez and George Mena), Mustafa and Dave Doyle, plus Sunlightsquare's own Liberation Mix. Snowboy praised it in his Blues & Soul column, Tilllate made it Tune of the Week, and it reached number seven in Tony Humphries' Traxsource Top 10.
